What a day!

This morning our basement flooded with sewage (ewwww). Bryce called and had Mr. Rooter come out. The guy snaked our drain and found all sorts of yumminess including tree roots! Yay... and that was 340 down our drain... ahaa-ahaa, get it. Then I accidentally dumped the garbage can all over the kitchen floor while Bryce was trying to clean up our basement and get the nasty poo smell gone. After all was calm I had given Sammy some puffs to snack on and was in the kitchen getting my lunch. Bryce was sitting in the chair eating his lunch zoned into the TV when Sammy started choking. My first thought was "Bryce will get him"... then I hear him again, still choking. So I come in and Sammy is standing right in front of Bryce choking and Bryce is focused on the TV! I could have beat him right there, but I had more important things to worry about. So I yell "Bryce" as I am heading towards them. He does the finger sweep... nothing, still choking and not breathing... his lips were starting to turn purple... I do the finger sweep, nothing there. I am saying loudly "he's not breathing!" Sammy gasps and gets a bit of air in but still is obviously choking so I pick him up and put him on my knee head down facing downward and begin to pound his back. He is breathing and crying hysterically. Thank God. His little lip was quivering but becoming red again. He was scared. He wanted nothing to do with me and just wanted to hold on to daddy. He was still having a hard time swallowing and catching his breath so we offered him water but he wouldn't touch it. I sat down with him and nursed him to get some fluid down in his throat and he has been fine since. Since then we have only had a few little minor setbacks like Sammy not napping, but it all seems so trivial now. I am so thankful that I remembered what to do in that situation. Sammy has always been a choker because he puts way to much in his mouth at once. I have always kept a close watch on him when eating and have always dreaded the moment when the finger sweep didn't work... I'm so glad that moment has passed us now and I can go on with confidence in knowing that I can handle that moment. Side note... I got over Bryce not responding right away, he had quite the morning and was pretty tore up about seeing his little boy like that. Right now, as corny as it sounds, I feel like saying "bring it on world, I can handle your crap!" I think maybe I'll go snuggle Sammy and try to catch a little snooze with him. :)

Long update

Soo, pictures... I swear I'll get to it:) It's been a little while so I figured I should update. I'll start with Sammie... I think I'll write his name Sammy now. He is 15 months tomorrow! Where does the time go?! He is crazy but oh so sweet. He is such a boy. He loves picking up sticks and rocks outside to explore, playing ball, playing with his car and dump truck. He makes "brrmmm" sounds for anything with a motor. He is his daddy's boy. He love reading and brings me books throughout the day. He loves playing chase through our house and is way to smart. He has learned how to trick me and turn around to catch me. He loves giving hugs and just cuddling. He loves his daddy time and gets so excited when Bryce gets home. He is now signing "more", "all done", "please", "milk", "eat", and "water". We are working on "wait", "stop", "drink","daiper", and "want". He seems to pick the signs up pretty fast and it is helping so much with his communication. The words he is saying consistently now are mom, dad, wow, kiki (kitty kitty) bye, hi, hey, baa(bath)... I know he has more, but I'm drawing a blank. He is such a blast to be around and I love every minute with him.
Now onto Bryce and me. Bryce just got a promotion and a raise! Woohoo! Definitely Gods doing and we are so thankful. We are hoping to put more money into the house and into savings. We really want to redo our kitchen.... if you have seen it, you know why! If not, I'll try to paint a picture. It was updated in the early 90's, it has this hideous linoleum... so hideous that Bryce likens me cleaning it to "shinning a poop" He makes me laugh. The bottom cabinets and countertops were made from cheap plywood and must have been made for giants because they are tall. Not of the doors latch on them because they are warped and the cabinet under our sink is sagging because they put the plumbing in so crappy that our sink always leaks. I'm afraid for what the wood flooring looks like under this cabinet. The only thing we like about our kitchen would be the potential it has and the old original cabinets up top which go from counter top to ceiling. I would also love to finish painting our house, get the basement finished, and all the wood floors refinished. I'm sure there's more, but those are at the top of my list. Goodness, what else is new? I have continued sewing diapers and am getting better with each diaper. I am hoping to get a snap press soon and then get some testers out to a couple ladies for feedback. Bryce really wants me to try selling them but I am still pondering. Maybe for fun or a hobby, but I don't want this enjoyment to turn into a stressful job. I love cloth diapering and I love sewing now... I just don't want to taint it by making it into a business. Does that make sense? We'll see I guess.
Other news... Byrce and I are getting ready to celebrate our 3 year anniversary on the 30th of this month. I really can't believe how fast the time flies! I'm so happy to be married to such a wonderful man and have such a wonderful father for our child and future children. Shortly after our anniversary my brother and his girlfriend should be coming to visit! I can't wait! It is so beautiful here in the fall. I want to show them around a bit more since last time i was a bit flustered with a new born. I also want to get my brother to rake our leaves ;)
I am so excited to say that I have now been past Coeur d'alene, ID! over Labor day weekend Bryce, Sammie and I headed over to MT. We had a great time and MT is so beautiful. I look forward to going back next Summer for some camping. I also want to stay over in Kellogg, ID... what a beautiful little tourist town. The worlds longest gondola is there and I will ride it before I leave the NW! After getting back from MT and getting a good nights rest we went and hiked Bowl and Pitcher. I got some pretty pictures and really enjoyed the outdoors. It was a tad chilly and rainy, but I loved it. Growing up in AZ has made me love the smell of rain. Wow, this was one long update... I guess that is it for now. I think Sammy is wanting some attention and mommy time. God Bless!

Oh yes, just thought I'd share, we still only have 1 functional bathroom. GRRRRRRR

It has been a while!!!!

It's been a fairly busy and very fun summer! I will definitely have to get pictures up soon. Sammie's birthday party was a blast. He really didn't want to touch any vegetables for a couple weeks after the taste of chocolate cake. It didn't help that my parents were in town and were feeding him the amazing bread at Tomato Street for dinner. The kid didn't want anything but bread and/or crackers for a while after that! I hate it when my parents and I have to split and go about our normal lives 1500 miles apart. It really sucks! I always have so much fun with them... yes mom, it's true, even when you drive me absolutely insane! I talk to my mom often on the phone but it's just not the same. Sammie loves talking on the phone and his Grammy always makes him smile. He is so loud when I am on the phone, but as soon as I give it to him he just stares at it quietly. What else...
We went to our friends cabin on the lake over the fourth of July. I had a lot of fun with friends. I needed it. That weekend Sammie also walked around on his own for the first time! He had no one to walk to, just walked around and danced to snoop dog! He was so excited and proud of himself. It was the cutest thing ever, I wish I could have captured it in a video, but it just wasn't expected. He took a couple more weeks to get the confidence to do it again and has been nonstop since! We also started playing volleyball on Wednesdays with some friends. We usually have Bryce's mom come watch Sammie (he loves spending time with her). It's a blast and gets me out a little more.
My newest hobby is sewing diapers! I have a passion for cloth diapers. I started cloth diapering Sammie when he was about 8 months old and have become more and more addicted daily (weird I know, but don't knock it until you try it, lol) I have only sewn a few diapers and soakers for Sammie and future little Leming( not on purpose, they were just too small for Sammie). I really enjoy sewing and want to learn more so I can sew clothes for me and Sam and any future children. Bryce and I are talking about selling the diapers I make, but I'm just not sure yet. I need to perfect the pattern I've made and see if it's even feasible. There are a ton of moms who sell their diapers so i'm not sure I could even make money on it. Anyway... I'm getting boring and just rambling on. Hopefully Bryce will be home soon to help relieve me of my boredom.

Poor little dude

Well I am off to bed after 1 exhausting day. Sammie woke with a fever at 3 am and had a really hard time sleeping after that. His fever lingered all day and he was just miserable. I couldn't put him down. He was so super cuddly though:) it warmed my heart. I did take him in to his Dr. and it turns out he has and ear infection in his right ear. He said it should clear up on its own within the next few days (hopefully before the big day). After the appointment we went to visit daddy at work. Sammie was so thrilled to see him. Bryce then came home and spent some time with him and then went up to get more tiling done on the shower. It's getting there... I can't wait to have 2 bathrooms again! That is all. I am tired and most likely awaiting a long night.

summary

Well i should probably get some pictures up! I will work on that. Today is pretty uneventful. Just playing the give and take game with Sammie. He tries to say "here ya go" and "thank you" while playing it because that's what mommy says. He is getting better at walking still and seems so close to walking more independently.
Tomorrow is a week from his birthday and Grammy and Papa are flying in!!! I am so excited to see my parents. I'm bummed that Tony and Jenn can't make it but it is understandable.
Bryce is working hard most of the time. He puts in quite a few hours at work just to come home and put in hours here! He is currently finishing up work on our upstairs bathroom (which has to be finished in time for my parents arrival). He is just such a busy man. He's funny, when he's not busy he is antsy! It drives me crazy! He is a good man and such a wonderful father to Sammie. He is almost always sure to say hi to Sammie and play with him a bit first thing when he gets home from work. I don't think Sammie would allow any different though. He sure loves his daddy and wants nothing to do with me for a bit after Bryce gets home. It is adorable to see them bond.
That's it for today:)

Well I guess I'm a blogger now!

Today is June 8th 2009. Not a whole lot going on here today. It is cool and rainy out so Sammie and I are just hanging out inside. Sammie will be a big ONE in 9 days. I have such mixed emotions about it. It is so exciting to reach this huge milestone, but just a few days ago I came across the sample photos taken at the hospital and my eyes welled up with tears. I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. On a happy note he is almost walking on his own! He walks back and forth to Bryce and I quite well but isn't confident enough in himself to do it on his own. He is a thinker... you can see it in his eyes. He is almost always plotting his next move rather than just plowing through like a lot of kids his age. He will not do things he's not ready to do and you can't make him either. He's a funny kid with tons of personality and attitude. I am pretty excited to see whats next with him:)
Gotta go change his stinky bum! I'll be back later.
